A setting of Dorianne Laux’s beautiful poem of the same name, “Evening” was written at the request of Renée Fleming for inclusion in her Decca album “Voice of Nature: The Anthropocene”. This version for soprano and orchestra was commissioned by the Philadelphia Orchestra and premiered by Ms. Fleming with Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra on May 16, 2023.
